Lydia

Lydia Bolton, E-RYT 200/RYT 500

Lydia

Lydia is passionate about helping  others to help themselves. She welcomes all folks to attend her classes, regardless of age, experience level, flexibility, skin color, and body size. Known for her soothing voice, creative sequencing, and light-hearted approach, Lydia’s classes are influenced  by her love for nature and the ancient teachings of yoga. You can expect breathwork, meditation, laughter, mindful movement, storytelling, and philosophy when you attend her classes.

Yoga found Lydia during her final  year of study at Indiana University in Bloomington. After several years of playing on the mat as a student, in 2012 Lydia attended Orbis Yoga’s 200 Hour Teacher Training in Louisville. After teaching over 1,000 hours from the time of her certification, she  received the title of Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher from Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 200). As owner of Fire Horse Yoga Studio in Jasper from 2017 to 2021, Lydia found a new place to share her love of yoga. She completed her 500 Hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Certification  (RYT500) from Asheville Yoga Center of North Carolina in March of 2020 and has now completed  over 2,000 hours of teaching yoga.

When she’s not on her yoga mat,  you will probably find this sweet yogini at the local farmer’s market, experimenting with a new dish in the kitchen, hiking, reading, listening to records, dancing, hula hooping, or looking for adventure with her sweetheart, Andy.

Robin

Robin Morton, CYT 200

Robin

Robin has been practicing yoga for nearly a decade. After six years of a regular home and studio practice, she decided to deepen her practice with a 200-hour teacher training course with the hopes of sharing her yoga with others — fully embodying Fire Horse Yoga’s mission by bringing body, mind, and spirit together.

Her Thursday evening (6:30 pm) Light Yoga is a vinyasa-flavored class that focuses on melding intentional breath with functional movement to better move us through our daily activities. Robin offers modifications to add or reduce depth/sensation in the poses allowing students the space to meet themselves exactly where they are each time they come to their mats — seasoned and beginner yogis alike.

Julia

Julia Jalles, RYT-200

Julia

Julia is a longtime FHY teacher and student. She has been practicing yoga for nearly her entire life, and you'll often hear teachers reference Julia wisdom throughout their classes with such statements as: "Falling is learning!" and "No prizes for straight legs in yoga!"

If you've never attended a Yin class with Julia, you're missing out. She is the pure embodiment of yoga, bringing deep peace to each student with her sweet, soothing voice and compassionate air.

Julia leads Hatha classes on Monday mornings at 9am, and Yin on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm; in-studio and online as a livestream or recording.

Allison

Allison has been practicing yoga for nearly 15 years, and teaching since her certification in 2017. She currently holds her RYT-200 and is working toward her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Bloomington, IN.

Allison

Allison has returned to the Fire Horse Yoga community after a relatively brief hiatus (although it was all too long for those of us who routinely attended her fiery classes). She exemplifies strength, fire, and resilience... and brings those assets to each and every one of her classes. Her primary focus is Warm Vinyasa Flow, having earned her 200-hour teaching certification under the direction of her mentor, Erin Rauscher (Yes Power Yoga) in 2017. Despite this emphasis on heat and flow, you can anticipate seeing her on the teaching mat for other styles of yoga. She has a self-professed love of Yin yoga as well, noting that the two modalities, like the sun and moon themselves, create balance and harmony when joined together within the practice.
When not teaching or practicing yoga (or working toward her BFA), you can most often catch Allison gardening, reading, or spending quality time with family and friends.
Welcome BACK, Allison!

Andrea

Andrea earned her RYT-200 in 2021. Having found joy in her yoga practice, she delved further into her wellness journey by becoming a plant medicine facilitator of Cacao & Hape', a Reiki 1&2 Practitioner, a Natal Chart Astrologer, and Sound Bath Facilitator. Welcome, Andrea!

Andrea

Andrea's health and wellness journey began in 2019 with a "75 Hard Challenge" (75 days/ 5 rules- one of which was 2 workouts per day). Yoga was one of her workout choices. She clearly remembers the day child's pose no longer hurt her hips and she wanted to share that joy of movement with everyone. She finished her YTT and became an RYT-200 in 2021 and has been living that dream ever since. As the years have passed, she has deepened her practice to become a plant medicine facilitator of both Cacao and Hape', a Reiki 1&2 Practitioner, a Natal Chart Astrologer and a Sound Bath Facilitator.
Her favorite class to teach is Astroflow, which is a specially designed class that utilizes theming following the zodiac calendar. No two classes will be identical, but you can be sure that each will utilize physical asanas, breath work, and medical astrology to help you tune into and feel the shifts of the seasons.
Andrea's love for life and community, and her firm belief that yoga is, and should be, practiced in every moment and in any location, fits right in with our Fire Horse community. We are blessed and elated to welcome her to the teaching mat!

Samantha

Samantha Knies Gray, E-RYT 200, YACEP, Barre Above® Certified Instructor

Samantha

Yoga came to Samantha in high school as a way to gain strength and flexibility for horseback riding. Yoga flitted in and out of her life through college and was made a permanent part of her life when she lived in Carmel, Indiana – maintaining a home practice when she wasn’t sweating it out during hot classes after work. She began practicing at Fire Horse after moving back home to Dubois County in January 2016. Samantha fell in love with yin yoga after taking one class with Julia Jalles and knew that she wanted to bring this practice to the lives of others. She finished her 200-hour teacher training at Fire Horse in November 2017 and is passionate about the benefits of all yoga, but especially yin, restorative, and hatha yoga.

In addition to teaching yoga, Sam is  certified in the BarreAbove method and loves teaching the Thursday evening Barre Fusion class, combining the movements of barre with the relaxation and breath awareness of yoga.  Samantha also attends classes at Fire Horse and maintains a daily  practice at home with her two young daughters and husband. She’s an avid believer in taking time out of our busy lives to rest and restore our bodies and minds. Samantha’s intention is to bring a deep level of peace and an awareness of body and breath to every student she teaches.

When she’s not at the studio, Samantha works in marketing part-time for two  different organizations and loves spending time with her family on their farm in Bretzville — hiking, riding their 4 horses (Suzy, Troubadour, Ginger, and Dash), porch-sitting, and loving on their 3 rescue dogs (Roxy,  Rory, Charlotte) and 6 cats (Greay, George, Leo, Aqua, Biscuit, and Pepper Potts)

Abby Keller

Abby comes to FHY with over a decade of experience as a yoga practitioner.  She is currently working toward her 200-hour CYT. Her deep love of (and desire to share) the benefits of Yin Yoga led her to complete her 20-hour Yin Yoga specialty certification.

Abby Keller

Abby is a seasoned yogi, currently studying to obtain her CYT. She carries within her an indescribable effervescence, a gentle sense of knowing, and a genuine kindness that draws people near her. Her passion to share the healing benefits of yoga with the world is palpable when in her presence.  As with so many of us, her yogic journey began with a very strong yang practice- she is adept in both Hatha & Vinyasa- but discovered an especially deep connection to the cooler, quieter side of Yin.

In her words:

"I've been practicing yoga since I was 18, and I discovered Yin yoga when I was 27. Yin quickly became much more than a yoga practice for me- it taught me how to slow down, be present, and find stillness in a world that often feels too busy. It became the beginning of my own self-healing journey and brought me a sense of peace and calm that I hadn't experienced before. As a Yin yoga teacher, my goal is to create a space where others can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience that same sense of peace and restoration.
Outside of yoga, I love spending time with my husband and son, working out, and being out in nature. I'm grateful to be able to share a practice that has had such a meaningful impact on my own life, and I hope to help others discover the healing, grounding, and peace that Yin yoga can bring."

Abby will be staring with us on Friday afternoons in September.
